Bird Watching

Laughing_kookaburra_from_the_Western_Darling_Downs"At daylight came a hideous chorus of fiendish laughter, as if the infernal regions had been broken loose- this was the song of another feathered innocent , the laughing jackass- not half a bad sort of fellow when you come to know him, for he kills snakes, and is an infallible sign of the vicinity of fresh water…" C. H. Eden, 1872

Our friend pictured here, commonly known as the Laughing Kookaburra, is just one of the huge variety of birds to be found at Columboola Country. Our property is ideal for birdwatchers, with no arduous climbing or trekking required in order to view a large variety of avian species.

Detailed below is a comprehensive list of the birds to be found at Columboola Country. Compiled several years ago by members of Birds Australia, it is a useful reference tool for keen birdwatchers to use when visiting us. Please feel free to save and print out this page for use during your stay.
